One of the greatest batsmen of all times, Sachin Tendulkar, the Master Blaster owns infinite batting and other records that he made during the 24 years long international career. Known as the highest run-scorer in international cricket, he retired as the most capped player.

So on the occasion of his birthday, here are 5 record-breaking moments that the legend has created. Have a look!

Most runs scored in Test cricket:

Sachin has played 200 tests, and remains the only batsman to break the mark of 15,000 runs in Test cricket. To understand the mountain of runs that the Master Blaster scored, consider this: Virat Kohli, who made his test debut a decade ago, has so far scored just over 7,500 runs.

Most test caps:

Sachin Tendulkar became the youngest test debutant in the history of cricket and represented India for the next 24 years. He is the only player with over 175 test caps, let alone 200 Test matches. The next best was Australia’s Ricky Ponting with 168 matches. The closest active player to Sachin’s record is England’s James Anderson with 160 Test Matches and he is well into the last few years of his cricketing career too. This record, we can safely say, will remain untouched.

Youngest Test Player in Indian cricket:

The magic of Tendulkar was such that he had become almost a household name even before he made his debut for India at the age of 16 against Pakistan in 1989. He remains the youngest debutant for India in Test matches. Piyush Chawla is the next in this list from India. Chawla made his debut at the age of 17 in 2006 against England.

Most World Cup appearances

Only two players in the history of cricket have played six World Cups. The first was Javed Miandad, and the second one was Sachin Tendulkar, who matched Miandad’s record in 2011. This record could very well remain unbroken. To put this in context, MS Dhoni has only played four World Cups.
