A moment of immense pride for the state of Assam as Sarodee Borah bagged the nomination for the prestigious “Mirchi Music Awards 2020” in the “Upcoming Female Vocalist” of the year category. This is also the first national recognition of its kind for a girl from Assam. After traveling to over 50 international film festivals and grabbing eight awards in several categories, the 11-minute short film ‘Meal’ starring the internationally acclaimed actor from Assam, Adil Hussain is now available on the OTT platforms. The short film is written and directed by Abhiroop Basu, a seasoned director who has earned two consecutive selections for the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Hussain shares the screen with Ratnabali Bhattacharjee, Arun Mukherjee, and Avishek Jain.  While giving a short take on the film to VibesMojo, Hussain stated that “It’s a breakdown of a dysfunctional lower-middle-class family caused by poverty and lack of love.” The USP of the film is the fact that it has no dialogues in it. The theme of this year’s festival is “My culture, my heritage” and the college of St. Joseph has always tried to uphold their traditional customs while organising the Spring Fest. When one talks about martial arts-based movies in Assamese with loads of comedy, one name that  definitely comes to mind is that of Kenny Basumatary.
